ABOUT GWENNA

Hi, it's me, Gwenna --

How did I get into erotica?

 . . .

I went away to school and discovered D.H. Lawrence. Women In Love, and Lady's Chatterly's Lover come to mind! Then bit by bit I came across all the classic erotica writers: Anais Nin, Henry Miller, Anne Rice's Beauty series and who could forget The Story of O?

Lots of fun to read, but these books were of course only some of the lovely things I've had the pleasure of reading over the years. I enjoy lots of different kinds of fiction, as I'm sure you do too.

How do I write?

I'm still at the beginning stages of really getting out there with my work, but I'll tell you what I've discovered so far.  I find that the process of writing is the constant, obsessive and maniacal application of ink to paper. If you're not writing great stuff, you've got to be writing something.

The other thing is, there is a place that you write.  The cafe?  Fine.  Your bed with your laptop?  Ok.  But you have to GET there and BE there for a certain amount of hours every day for any writing to get done.  If you need your magic pen, or your magic notebook -- well maybe that helps, but it's time logged that is the real thing.  I find that I don't or won't get any writing done unless I am IN the place where I DO the writing for a certain amount of hours in the day.

Another thing about writing is place.  Coffee and tea and a snack are fine, but write in a place where you can't access your tech.  I have an OLD laptop that's not connected, and it's perfect for just typing on.  I transfer to a stick later.

Don't forget to read, too. Especially your favorites in the genre you intend to write. Read other stuff, too. Read the news of the day (if you can stand it). Read whatever you love, but you've got to put in that time, too.

That's it.  Those are my 'secrets.' The real secret is, there ain't no secrets. If you are trying to write, it's like the sneaker man says: just do it. You can do it!

Soooo -- Email me!  I can't wait to hear from you! (newsletter is not live yet.  Soon. In the meantime, join the mailing list :-D)

Love,

Gwenna
